The dish has age related wear and loss of plate and it requires a good a polish

one by Barrets in 1975 and the other by Staffordshire Pottery in 1979

far eastern imports started to flood in to the UK from the mid 1970s

The lid as well as the trinket dish has gold trim around the edge

Vintage J&G Meakin Ceramic Saucer – Centenary Series Cutlery a scalloped silver plated clammJ&G Meakin had close family and corporate affiliations to the potteries Johnson Brothers as well as Alfred Meakin which explains the similarity of many of the patterns used on wares from these three manufacturers. J&G Meakin was founded in 18581, while Alfred Meakin wasset up in 1875. In 1968 J&G Meakin was taken over by the Midwinter Group which itself was taken over by the Wedgwood Group in 1970. In 2000 production under the J&G Meakin name ceased.
