I didn't have to wait long before those colors of oranges and reds came alive with cumulus clouds picking up those colors along with a low lying mist hovering over the prairie landscape

I knew where in the preserve I wanted to go to photograph the wildflowers because

I looked back and noticed the sunburst through the tree with the rays of sunshine extending out onto the prairie landscape

I decided to go off trail to capture the sunlight as it penetrated through to the forest floor and illuminate the autumn colors of maple

peachleaf willow and 2 cottonwood
